As October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Nutribray emphasizes health awareness, early medical consultation, maternal nutrition and informed family care.

New Delhi [India], October 1: Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed globally throughout October, nutrition company Nutribray is highlighting the importance of women’s health, maternal wellbeing, informed nutrition and responsible healthcare awareness as part of a broader conversation around family wellbeing.

Breast cancer continues to be a significant public-health concern worldwide. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 2.4 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer globally in 2024, with 694,000 deaths recorded that year. WHO also emphasizes that early diagnosis and timely treatment are important in reducing the burden of breast cancer.

For women and families, Breast Cancer Awareness Month provides an opportunity to look beyond awareness campaigns and encourage greater attention to everyday health. Recognizing possible changes in breast health and seeking timely medical evaluation when concerns arise remain important components of breast-cancer awareness.

In India, breast cancer is among the major cancers affecting the population. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has highlighted breast cancer, cervical cancer and cancers of the lip and oral cavity among the most common malignancies in India, while emphasizing the importance of early detection and screening approaches.

Moving From Awareness to Everyday Women’s Wellbeing

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is commonly associated with screening and early detection, but it also creates an opportunity to encourage women to take a broader view of their health.

Nutrition is one component of this larger wellbeing journey. Nutritional requirements can change during pregnancy, lactation, motherhood and different stages of life. Appropriate nutrition, regular healthcare and professional medical guidance can therefore play an important role in supporting overall wellbeing.

However, nutrition should not be positioned as a replacement for breast-cancer screening, diagnosis or medical treatment. For health and nutrition brands, responsible communication means providing useful information while encouraging consumers to consult qualified healthcare professionals regarding individual medical concerns.

For Nutribray, the October awareness campaign is therefore focused on education, awareness and responsible nutrition communication, rather than making disease-prevention or treatment claims.

Research Highlights the Broader Maternal Health Conversation

The connection between breastfeeding and women’s health has also been examined in published research. A study published in Cancer Medicine, titled “Breastfeeding reduces the risk of breast cancer: A call for action in high-income countries with low rates of breastfeeding,” reviewed evidence linking breastfeeding duration with breast-cancer risk. The paper reported that breast-cancer risk decreased by 4.3% for every 12 months of breastfeeding, in addition to the reduction associated with each birth.

The findings add to the broader discussion around maternal health and breastfeeding support. At the same time, individual breastfeeding decisions can depend on medical, personal and social circumstances and should be supported through appropriate healthcare guidance.

This distinction is important for public health communication: breastfeeding can be discussed as one aspect of maternal and infant wellbeing, while breast-cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment remain separate areas of medical care.

Nutribray Connects Nutrition, Quality and Different Life Stages

Nutribray’s nutrition portfolio spans several stages of life, including infant formula, hypoallergenic and specialized formulas, cereals, growing nutrition, maternal protein nutrition and advanced medical nutrition.

The company states on its official platform that its products are manufactured in accordance with BIS guidelines and that product batches undergo purity and safety testing. Its website also lists BIS registrations and ISI certification across several relevant product categories.

Through this broader nutrition portfolio, Nutribray aims to participate in conversations around quality nutrition, maternal wellbeing, infant nutrition and informed family care.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the company can use this platform to reinforce the importance of women giving attention to their health throughout different stages of life, rather than only when health concerns emerge.

Supporting Mothers Through Pregnancy and Lactation

Maternal nutrition represents another important part of the family-health conversation. Pregnancy and lactation can involve changing nutritional requirements, making adequate intake of protein, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients an important consideration.

Nutribray’s portfolio includes nutrition positioned for mothers alongside infant, growing and specialized nutrition categories. This provides an opportunity to communicate a broader mother-and-child nutrition perspective, while encouraging consumers to select products according to their individual nutritional requirements and advice from healthcare professionals.

The focus is not simply on products, but on creating greater awareness around the nutritional journey that women and families experience across pregnancy, lactation, infancy and childhood.

Responsible Communication Around Infant and Maternal Nutrition

As nutrition is closely connected with maternal and infant health, responsible communication remains particularly important.

Breastfeeding and infant feeding decisions should be discussed with appropriate healthcare professionals, particularly where an infant has specific nutritional or medical requirements. Clear communication can help families understand that specialized nutrition products have particular uses and should not be presented as substitutes for professional medical advice.

For brands operating in this category, maintaining a balance between product information, health education and responsible messaging can contribute to stronger consumer confidence and more meaningful public-health conversations.

A Broader Conversation Around Women’s Health

Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2026 also provides an opportunity to encourage conversations that extend beyond a single month.

For Nutribray, the focus is on connecting women’s health, maternal nutrition, infant wellbeing and family nutrition within a broader awareness narrative. The company’s approach positions nutrition as one part of a healthy lifestyle while recognizing the central role of qualified healthcare professionals in medical decision-making.

The message is particularly relevant for mothers, who often play an important role in family nutrition and healthcare decisions while managing their own nutritional and wellbeing needs.

As communities, healthcare professionals, organizations and families come together during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, greater awareness can encourage women to pay attention to their health, recognize potential concerns and seek timely professional advice.

For Nutribray, October represents an opportunity to contribute to that conversation through responsible health communication, a focus on nutritional quality and greater awareness of the connection between women’s wellbeing, maternal health and family nutrition.

About Nutribray

Nutribray is a nutrition company offering products across infant, maternal, growing, specialized and advanced medical nutrition categories. The company states that its manufacturing and quality processes follow applicable BIS guidelines and that its product batches undergo purity and safety testing.

How Stress Hormones Affect Hair Growth https://allahabadpost.in/health/how-stress-hormones-affect-hair-growth/ Wed, 30 Sep 2026 08:22:39 +0000 https://allahabadpost.in/health/how-stress-hormones-affect-hair-growth/

New Delhi [India], September 29: Work pressure, long travel hours, family duties, poor sleep, and constant phone use can make stress a part of daily life. A little stress is normal. But when stress continues for weeks or months, it can affect the body in different ways.

One change some people notice is increased hair fall. There may be more hair on the pillow, in the shower, or on the comb. Seeing this can create even more stress. There is a connection between stress hormones and hair growth. Long periods of stress may affect the normal hair growth cycle and lead to increased shedding in some people.

But stress is not the only cause of hair fall. Food, sleep, genes, age, hormones, health problems, and hair-care habits can also play a role. Understanding these factors can help you take the right steps instead of looking for a quick solution.

Quick Highlights

  • Long-term stress may affect the normal hair cycle and increase shedding in some people.
  • Cortisol is one of the main hormones involved in the body’s response to stress.
  • Stress-related hair shedding may appear some time after a difficult or stressful period.
  • Poor sleep and unhealthy food habits can make it harder to maintain healthy hair.
  • Better sleep, nutrition, exercise, and stress management can support overall hair wellness. Stress Hormones

What Happens to Your Body When You Are Stressed?

Stress is the body’s natural response to pressure. Imagine that you have an important meeting in a few minutes. Your heart may beat faster. You become more alert and focused. Your body prepares itself to handle the situation.

This short period of stress is normal. Problems may begin when stress continues every day. Work deadlines, financial worries, family problems, poor sleep, illness, or long travel hours can keep the body under pressure.

When you are stressed, your body releases hormones. One of the best-known stress hormones is cortisol. Your body needs cortisol. But long periods of stress may affect sleep, eating habits, mood, and other normal body functions. Hair may also be affected in some people.

How Do Stress Hormones Affect Hair Growth?

Your hair follows a natural cycle. Each hair grows for a period of time. It then enters a resting stage before eventually falling out. New hair can then begin growing from the follicle.

Significant physical or emotional stress can sometimes disturb this normal cycle. More hairs may move into the resting stage at around the same time. This can lead to increased shedding later.

The important point is that hair may not start falling immediately after a stressful event. It may take some time before the extra shedding becomes noticeable. This is why people do not always connect their hair fall with a stressful period they experienced earlier. Stress Hormones

What Does Cortisol Have to Do With Hair?

Cortisol is often called the stress hormone. It is not a harmful hormone by itself. Your body naturally makes cortisol, and it has several important jobs.

The concern is long-lasting stress. Research has looked at how ongoing stress and stress hormones may affect hair follicles and the normal hair cycle. However, hair loss is complex. It would be wrong to say that cortisol is responsible for every case of hair fall.

Stress should be seen as one possible factor along with nutrition, genetics, hormones, health, and lifestyle.

What Does Stress-Related Hair Fall Look Like?

Stress-related shedding may be noticed across the scalp rather than in one small area. You may find more hair than usual while washing or brushing. You may also notice extra strands on your pillow, clothes, or bathroom floor.

There may have been a stressful event before the increased shedding started. This could include a difficult period at work, an illness, emotional stress, poor sleep, or another major life change. However, these signs alone cannot confirm that stress is causing your hair loss. If hair fall becomes heavy or continues for a long time, speak with a dermatologist.

Poor Sleep Can Add to the Problem

Stress and sleep are closely connected. When you are stressed, you may find it harder to sleep. When you do not sleep properly, you may feel more stressed the next day. This cycle can also affect your daily habits.

You may skip exercise, eat poorly, drink too much coffee, or feel too tired to prepare healthy meals. Try to sleep and wake at similar times each day. Reduce phone use before bed and create a quiet sleeping space when possible. Good sleep does not directly fix hair loss, but it supports your overall health and can make stress easier to manage. Stress Hormones

Stress Can Change Your Eating Habits

A stressful day can easily affect the way you eat. You may skip breakfast because you are running late. Lunch may be delayed because of meetings. By evening, packaged snacks or fast food may feel easier than preparing a balanced meal.

When this happens regularly, your body may not get all the nutrients it needs. Hair health depends on good overall nutrition. Protein is important because hair is mainly made of a protein called keratin. Nutrients such as iron, zinc, vitamin D, and biotin also have important jobs in the body.

Try to include protein-rich foods such as eggs, dal, beans, curd, paneer, milk, soy, fish, or chicken based on your food preferences. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains can help make meals more balanced.

Where Does Biotin Fit Into a Hair Wellness Routine?

Biotin is also known as vitamin B7. It helps the body use nutrients from food and supports normal keratin production. Keratin is an important part of hair, so getting enough biotin is part of normal nutrition.

However, taking more biotin does not automatically mean faster hair growth. Biotin also does not remove stress or directly solve stress-related hair fall. It may be considered when there is a nutritional need or when extra nutritional support has been recommended.

For people considering nutritional support for their hair, a biotin supplement can be included as part of a wider hair wellness routine when suitable. Zeroharm Biotin 5000 mcg is a high-strength biotin option. It should be viewed as nutritional support rather than a replacement for healthy food, enough sleep, stress management, and proper hair care.

High-dose biotin can also affect the results of certain blood tests. If you take biotin regularly, tell your doctor before having blood tests. Professional guidance can also help you understand whether a high-strength supplement is suitable for your needs. Stress Hormones

Simple Ways to Manage Stress and Support Hair Health

Managing stress does not require a complicated routine. Start with changes that are easy to follow.

Regular walking or another form of exercise can support physical and mental well-being. Take short breaks during long working hours instead of sitting continuously for many hours. Make sleep a priority and try to eat meals at regular times.

Also take care of your hair gently. Avoid very tight ponytails, buns, or braids that pull on the roots. Reduce frequent use of straighteners, curling tools, and very hot hair dryers. Do not rub wet hair aggressively with a towel. Use a wide-tooth comb when needed and work through knots gently.

When Should You Speak to a Doctor?

  • Some daily hair shedding is normal, but sudden or heavy hair fall should not be ignored.
  • Pay attention if hair fall continues for several months or leads to visible bald patches.
  • Scalp pain, sores, severe itching, sudden weight changes, or unusual tiredness may need further attention.
  • Diet, stress, medicines, family history, and overall health can all help explain the possible cause.
  • Finding the reason behind hair fall is more useful than repeatedly changing shampoos, oils, or supplements. Stress Hormones

Final Thoughts

The connection between stress hormones and hair growth is important, but stress is only one part of the picture. Long periods of stress may disturb the normal hair cycle and increase shedding in some people. Stress may also affect sleep, food choices, exercise, and other habits that support healthy hair.

Start with simple changes. Eat balanced meals, get enough sleep, stay active, manage everyday stress, and treat your hair gently. A natural, plant-based biotin supplement may provide nutritional support when appropriate, but it cannot replace these basic habits.

Most importantly, do not assume that stress is always responsible for hair fall. If shedding becomes sudden, severe, patchy, or continues for a long time, speak with a dermatologist or qualified healthcare professional to understand the cause.

Clinical Case Study: When Ten Years of Constipation Finally Began to Ease https://allahabadpost.in/health/clinical-case-study-when-ten-years-of-constipation-finally-began-to-ease/ Thu, 17 Sep 2026 06:46:35 +0000 https://allahabadpost.in/health/clinical-case-study-when-ten-years-of-constipation-finally-began-to-ease/

New Delhi [India], September 17: Sometimes a health problem becomes so familiar that we stop treating it as a problem.

A Seven-Day Naturopathy Journey at Nirvana

Patient: Mrs. Leelawati
Age/Gender: 41 Years / Female
Admission: 06 September 2026
Discharge: 12 September 2026
Clinical Supervision: Dr. Roshni Bala
Centre: Nirvana Naturopathy & Retreat, Igatpuri, Nashik

For Mrs. Leelawati, constipation had been part of everyday life for almost ten years. Difficult bowel movements, bloating, acidity and a burning sensation in the chest had gradually become something she had learned to manage. Alongside this, she had been living with Rheumatoid Arthritis for nearly four years, with joint stiffness and discomfort adding to her daily challenges.

At 41, she decided that instead of continuing to simply manage the symptoms, she wanted to spend some time focusing on her overall health. This brought her to Nirvana Naturopathy & Retreat, Igatpuri, Nashik, for a seven-day residential naturopathy programme from 06 September to 12 September 2026.

Her programme was conducted under the clinical supervision of Dr. Roshni Bala and qualified BNYS doctors at Nirvana.

Understanding the Complete Picture

The initial approach was not simply, “How can we make the bowel move?”

After ten years of constipation, there was a much bigger picture to understand. Her digestive complaints included bloating, acidity and burning heartburn, while her history of Rheumatoid Arthritis meant that her physical comfort and joint stiffness also needed consideration.

A personalised programme combining natural hydrotherapy, mud therapy, abdominal applications, therapeutic massage, dietary modification and lifestyle guidance was therefore planned.

Her constipation symptoms were also assessed using the Patient Assessment of Constipation Symptoms (PAC-SYM) questionnaire. At admission, her recorded score was 21, providing a baseline for monitoring her progress.

Hydrotherapy and Mud Therapy

Hydrotherapy became one of the important elements of her naturopathy programme. Selected therapies such as hip baths, underwater massage and aqua-based cleansing procedures were administered under professional supervision.

Mud therapy and selected abdominal applications, including castor oil packs, gastrohepatic packs and cold packs, were also incorporated according to her individual treatment plan.

For her joint-related discomfort, selected therapies such as Nirvana Rejuvenation Massage, deep tissue massage and herbal potali applications were included according to her clinical requirements and tolerance.

The idea was never that one therapy would solve everything. The therapies were combined with appropriate food, rest, hydration and a regular daily routine.

A Simple Herbal Drink

As part of the dietary wellness routine, a mild cumin-coriander-fennel infusion may be used when considered suitable by the BNYS doctor.

Simple recipe: Take ½ teaspoon cumin seeds, ½ teaspoon coriander seeds and ½ teaspoon fennel seeds. Add them to approximately 500 ml of water, simmer gently for a few minutes, allow the preparation to cool to a comfortably warm temperature and strain before drinking.

It can be taken in small quantities during the day rather than as a concentrated kadha.

For a patient with acidity and burning heartburn, the important point is moderation. Strongly spiced or highly concentrated herbal drinks are not automatically better and may aggravate symptoms in some individuals. The drink should therefore be used only when clinically appropriate and well tolerated.

Food Became Part of the Treatment

Diet was another important part of Leelawati’s programme.

Her meals were kept simple, fresh and predominantly Sattvik, with suitable cooked vegetables, moong dal, light khichdi, vegetable soups and appropriately selected seasonal fruits.

Because she had both constipation and bloating, fibre was approached gradually rather than suddenly increasing large quantities of raw salads or bran. Depending on tolerance, foods such as papaya, pear or soaked raisins could be included as part of the dietary plan.

Adequate hydration, regular meal timings and mindful eating were encouraged. Highly processed foods, deep-fried preparations, excessive chilli and very spicy meals were reduced, particularly where they appeared to aggravate acidity or digestive discomfort.

The emphasis was simple: give the digestive system consistency rather than constantly changing remedies.

The Clinical Change

At discharge on 12 September 2026, her PAC-SYM score had reduced from 21 to 3.

During the seven-day programme, Mrs. Leelawati also reported considerable relief from bloating, acidity, burning heartburn and hard stools. She reported improved joint flexibility and a reduction in arthritic discomfort during her stay.

Her metabolic and cardiovascular parameters remained stable under clinical observation.

The PAC-SYM change provides an objective measurement from this particular treatment episode, while her reported symptoms describe her personal experience.

More Than Seven Days

The real challenge begins after leaving a naturopathy retreat.

Leelawati was advised to continue the recommended dietary and lifestyle practices at home, including appropriate hydration, regular meals, mindful eating and consistency in her daily routine.

Her case does not suggest that every patient with chronic constipation or Rheumatoid Arthritis will experience the same outcome. It represents one individual clinical observation following a supervised seven-day programme.

At Nirvana Naturopathy & Retreat, Igatpuri, Nashik, under the guidance of Gurumaa Yogita Khatri, the approach brings together naturopathy, hydrotherapy, mud therapy, Sattvik nutrition, therapeutic treatments and lifestyle guidance, with clinical supervision by qualified BNYS doctors.

For Mrs. Leelawati, the journey was not about finding one miracle remedy. It was about bringing together several carefully planned changes and giving her body a more disciplined environment in which to respond.

After almost ten years of living with digestive discomfort, the change in her symptoms—and the movement in her PAC-SYM score from 21 to 3—became a meaningful milestone in her health journey.

These thoughtfully designed spaces provide mothers with comfort, privacy, and a welcoming environment, ensuring that every mother travelling with her little one has a safe place to pause, feed, and care for her child.

Bengaluru is a metro city that never slows down, carrying thousands of commuters across the city every single day. Among them are countless mothers travelling with infants, who often have no dedicated space to stop, rest, or feed their babies comfortably and privately. The launch of Baby Feeding Centres across 10 metro stations is a thoughtful and much-needed initiative. These centres will provide lactating mothers with a safe, comfortable, and private space to feed and care for their little ones, making their daily journeys easier and more convenient.

Each centre has been thoughtfully designed with one purpose in mind: to provide mothers with a clean, safe, and private space where they can feed their babies comfortably, without feeling rushed, exposed, or out of place. These Baby Feeding Centres help ease that burden by providing a dedicated space designed around a mother’s comfort, dignity, and privacy, while ensuring the wellbeing of her child.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Jiji John, Executive Director of Child Help Foundation, said, “A Baby Feeding Centre may seem like a small space, but its impact goes far beyond its size. It gives a mother the privacy she needs at an important moment. It gives her dignity during a time that should never feel uncomfortable or inconvenient. And, most importantly, it offers a little comfort in the middle of a busy and tiring day.”

He further added, “I’ve seen mothers walk into these centres feeling anxious and unsure of where they can go, and walk out looking relieved, sometimes even with a smile. That simple transformation, however small it may seem, says everything about why this initiative matters. When a city creates space for its mothers, it is ultimately creating space for its future.”

This initiative reflects Child Help Foundation’s broader commitment to creating public spaces that are more responsive to the needs of mothers and children. As part of this initiative, Baby Feeding Centres have been established not only at metro stations but also at railway stations, hospitals, bus terminals, depots, temples, and police stations.

The 10 Baby Feeding Centres have been inaugurated at the following Bengaluru Metro stations:

  • Ragigudda Metro Station
  • Jayadeva Metro Station
  • BTM Metro Station
  • Silk Board Metro Station
  • Bommanahalli Metro Station
  • Yelachenahalli Metro Station
  • Lalbagh Metro Station
  • Sri Sathya Sai Hospital Metro Station
  • Bommasandra Metro Station
  • Hosa Road Metro Station

The collaboration between Child Help Foundation and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited(BMRCL) demonstrates what can be achieved when public infrastructure is designed with empathy and inclusivity at its core. While Child Help Foundation brings its experience in understanding and addressing the everyday challenges faced by mothers and children, BMRCL’s support ensures that these centres are accessible to the thousands of commuters who depend on the metro every day.

Together, this partnership represents a meaningful step towards creating public spaces that are more inclusive, supportive, and responsive to the needs of families, particularly mothers travelling with young children.

By bringing these 10 Baby Feeding Centres to life, Child Help Foundation has taken a meaningful step towards making Bengaluru a city that truly moves for everyone, including its youngest passengers and the mothers who carry them.

Child Help Foundation has also recently received a letter of appreciation from the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis Ji, commending the organisation’s work in Palghar, one of Maharashtra’s Aspirational Districts, for the welfare of children, women, tribal communities, and economically disadvantaged families. The letter, issued from Mantralaya, Mumbai, stands as a significant acknowledgement of CHF’s sustained efforts on the ground.

The Chief Minister acknowledged CHF’s initiatives across healthcare, education, WASH, women’s empowerment, child protection, and rural development, recognising their contribution to improving the lives of vulnerable communities in Palghar. He particularly appreciated CHF’s efforts in health awareness, educational infrastructure, menstrual hygiene, and child protection, describing them as meaningful steps towards inclusive growth.

He also commended the dedication of CHF’s Founder, trustees, staff, volunteers, and donors, recognising their collective commitment to serving society. He extended his best wishes to CHF for continued success and its contribution to the inclusive and sustainable development of Maharashtra.

When Does a Child’s Heart Need Attention: The Warning Signs Parents Shouldn’t Ignore https://allahabadpost.in/health/when-does-a-childs-heart-need-attention-the-warning-signs-parents-shouldnt-ignore/ Mon, 14 Sep 2026 10:58:40 +0000 https://allahabadpost.in/health/when-does-a-childs-heart-need-attention-the-warning-signs-parents-shouldnt-ignore/

Dr Manvinder Singh Sachdev explains that it is imperative to identify the symptoms in children associated with heart problems and to undergo a cardiac evaluation of the child.

Gurugram (Haryana) [India], September 10: It is no surprise that children have a natural resilience. In many cases, fatigue, breathlessness, or poor appetite can be associated with other common ailments that all children may have. Nevertheless, there are some symptoms which can indicate the presence of some heart diseases, and should not be ignored. Proper identification of early signs and further evaluation of these can assist in successful diagnosis of heart disease among children.

Dr. Manvinder Singh Sachdev, a distinguished paediatric cardiologist at NanheDil, Gurugram, advises paying particular attention to recurring, persistent symptoms, which may impede normal life of children.

Children are not always capable of explaining what is happening with them. This is why it is very important that parents notice any change in their activity and growth. It may be persistent breathlessness, unexplainable fatigue, discoloration of their lips or fingers, fainting, lack of proper weight gain, and difficulties with feeding in infants. Such symptoms, should be evaluated by a doctor,” said Dr. Manvinder Singh Sachdev.

Warning Signs Parents Should Watch For

Heart disorders in children may manifest in a variety of ways according to the age of the child and the type of heart disorder. In certain cases, symptoms might be apparent, but in some others, they may manifest only subtly.

  • Excessive breathlessness during ordinary activities: Where a child experiences unusual breathlessness during walking or playing or when engaging in activities that were formerly well-tolerated by the child, then such a situation should be examined by doctors. Particularly where the level of breathlessness does not correlate well with the amount of physical effort.
  • Tiredness and reduction in the child’s normal activities: Children are normally very energetic by nature. Any significant decrease in stamina, tiredness or avoidance of normal physical activities that the child usually enjoyed may be worthy of discussion with a pediatrician.
  • Blue discoloration of lips, tongue or fingers: Blue or greyish coloration of the lips or tips of the fingers at times indicates poor oxygenation and requires immediate medical intervention especially if coupled with breathing problems.
  • Fainting spells or dizziness: Fainting episodes or frequent dizziness experienced by the child especially while physically active requires a medical review. Though there are many other reasons for a child’s fainting episode, all of them need cardiac evaluation.
  • Poor feeding and sweating among infants: There are some heart problems among babies who experience problems feeding, tire easily during feeds, have fast breathing and sweating during feeds. All these can be symptoms of increased load on the heart.
  • Difficulty gaining weight or failing to grow: When a child fails to gain weight adequately or grows slowly despite receiving adequate nutrition, doctors examine different possible reasons including heart disease.
  • Rapid or irregular heartbeats: Parents may from time to time observe abnormal heartbeat patterns in their children. Any recurrent episodes of palpitations that are accompanied by dizziness, chest discomfort or even fainting needs to be examined.
  • Discomfort or pain in the chest: Usually chest pains among children are due to different reasons than heart problems. Nonetheless, chest discomfort during physical activity, which is recurrent or accompanied by breathlessness, dizziness or fainting requires medical attention.

Not Every Symptom Means Heart Disease

Dr. Sachdev additionally highlights the fact that knowing about these warning signs doesn’t imply that every symptom seen needs to be associated with the heart disease.

“Parents should neither panic over each and every symptom nor neglect any consistent or unusual signs. There are many symptoms in children which don’t have anything to do with the heart. The reason for identifying these warning signs is to determine whether further assessment is required or not. An accurate assessment helps doctors figure out whether there is a harmless symptom or one which needs to be evaluated further,” says Dr. Sachdev.

The assessment of the child includes a complete medical history and physical examination. Depending upon the symptoms and the findings of the doctor, some investigations like ECG, echocardiography or others can be advised for assessing the child’s heart condition.

Why Early Evaluation Matters

Some heart diseases that occur congenitally can be diagnosed in the prenatal stage, in infancy or during pediatric checkups. However, other heart conditions may manifest only during the growth stages of the child. Certain rhythm and structural diseases may also be diagnosed only when the child is older.

Early evaluation will allow for proper diagnosis and treatment planning for the child, may include either monitoring, medication or surgical intervention. Early diagnosis will also give the parents some answers to the repetitive symptoms of their children.

At NanheDil, the child heart centre Gurugram, there is emphasis on evaluating and treating heart diseases in infants, children and adolescents. Using specialised evaluation and appropriate treatment, each child will receive care based on his or her unique set of symptoms and background.

When Should You Consult an Expert for Hair Fall? https://allahabadpost.in/health/when-should-you-consult-an-expert-for-hair-fall/ Fri, 07 Aug 2026 10:46:31 +0000 https://allahabadpost.in/health/when-should-you-consult-an-expert-for-hair-fall/

New Delhi [India], August 7: Most people lose somewhere between 50 to 100 strands of hair every day. That’s completely normal, and most of us don’t even notice it. But at some point, the clumps in the shower drain get bigger, the part in your hair starts looking wider, or you catch your reflection and something just looks different.

That’s when the question usually hits — is this just stress, or is something actually wrong?

Knowing when to take hair fall seriously, and when to actually see someone about it, is something most people get wrong.

Normal Shedding vs. Something Worth Paying Attention To

Hair grows in cycles. Each strand goes through a growth phase, a resting phase, and then a shedding phase before a new strand starts growing in its place. When this cycle gets disrupted — by hormones, nutrition, stress, scalp conditions, or internal health issues — more hairs shift into the shedding phase at once than your body can replace.

The result is what most people call hair fall, but what’s actually happening is a breakdown somewhere in the hair cycle. The shedding you see is usually a lagging indicator. By the time you notice it, the disruption likely started two to three months earlier.

That delay is part of why people wait too long before doing anything about it.

Signs That It’s Time to Stop Waiting

There’s no single number that tells you when hair fall crosses a line. But certain patterns are worth taking seriously rather than hoping they resolve on their own.

  • You’re noticing thinning in a specific area — around the temples, the crown, or a widening parting.
  • You’re finding more hair than usual on your pillow, in your comb, or in the drain after a wash.
  • Your scalp looks more visible in photos than it did a year ago.
  • You’ve had a period of intense stress, illness, major weight loss, or hormonal change in the last few months.
  • Your nails are brittle, your energy is low, or you’ve been dealing with irregular periods — these can all point to the same internal imbalance.

Any one of these on its own might not mean much. Two or more together usually signal that the body is trying to tell you something.

Why Waiting Too Long Makes It Harder

Hair follicles don’t last forever if they’re repeatedly stressed or starved of nutrients. When hair fall is left unaddressed for a long time, the follicle can miniaturize — it starts producing thinner, weaker strands and eventually may stop producing hair altogether. At that stage, recovery is still possible in some cases, but it takes significantly longer, and the results are less predictable.

This is especially relevant for androgenetic hair loss, which is the most common type in both men and women. It progresses gradually and quietly, which is exactly why people often come in for help much later than they should.

What a Proper Evaluation Actually Looks Like

When you do consult someone, a good evaluation goes beyond just looking at your scalp. It should include understanding your medical history, diet, stress levels, hormonal status, and potentially blood work to check for deficiencies in iron, vitamin D, B12, or thyroid function.

Hair fall rarely has a single cause. Most of the time it’s a combination of factors — a genetic predisposition made worse by nutritional gaps, or stress compounding an existing hormonal imbalance. A superficial assessment that skips the internal picture usually leads to surface-level solutions that don’t hold up over time.

This is where platforms like Traya hair test can be a useful starting point — it’s designed to assess multiple root cause factors together rather than treating hair fall as a one-dimensional problem.

What You Can Do Before You See Someone

If you’re not ready to consult anyone yet, there are some honest things you can do in the meantime.

  • Get basic blood work done — iron, ferritin, vitamin D, B12, and thyroid levels.
  • Look at your eating patterns honestly — chronic dieting or skipping meals shows up in hair health.
  • Reduce heat styling and tight hairstyles that create unnecessary mechanical stress.
  • Track the pattern — is it getting worse, staying the same, or improving?

These steps won’t fix the problem, but they’ll give you useful information and help any expert you eventually see give you a more accurate picture.

Final Thoughts

Hair fall is almost never just about the hair. It’s a signal from the body that something in its internal balance has shifted. The sooner you treat it as that — a symptom worth investigating rather than a cosmetic nuisance to manage — the better your chances of actually doing something about it.

Consulting an expert isn’t overreacting. In most cases, it’s just overdue.

Pune’s Ageing Families Face a New Healthcare Challenge: Vencer Hospital Launches ‘Grandparent Care’ for Senior Citizens https://allahabadpost.in/health/punes-ageing-families-face-a-new-healthcare-challenge-vencer-hospital-launches-grandparent-care-for-senior-citizens/ Sat, 23 May 2026 12:46:45 +0000 https://allahabadpost.in/health/punes-ageing-families-face-a-new-healthcare-challenge-vencer-hospital-launches-grandparent-care-for-senior-citizens/

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], May 23: India is rapidly becoming an ageing society. According to government population projections, nearly one in seven Indians is expected to be above the age of 60 by 2036. Maharashtra is also witnessing a major demographic shift, with the state’s elderly population expected to rise significantly over the coming decade.

Doctors at Vencer Hospital say Pune and the PCMC region are already beginning to experience the realities of this transition, from rising loneliness among elderly citizens and increasing lifestyle diseases to mobility problems, visual impairment, and emotional isolation in increasingly nuclear family environments.

To respond to these changing realities, Vencer Hospital has launched “Grandparent Care,” a new senior-focused healthcare initiative combining preventive care, emotional reassurance, and community support under one umbrella.

“We started Vencer Hospital as three doctors who simply wanted to build honest and patient-focused medical care,” said Dr. Sharoon Shitole. “As we completed nearly 1,000 days of this journey, one realization became impossible to ignore — a very large percentage of the people who trust us every day are grandparents. India is ageing, Pune is ageing, and the need for compassionate geriatric support is only going to grow. Elderly people spent their lives taking care of us. Now it is our turn to take care of them.”

Vencer Hospital said Grandparent Care has been designed around three major pillars.

1. Drishti – Senior-Focused Vision Care

The first component of the initiative is Drishti, Vencer Hospital’s senior-focused cataract and vision-care program.

The hospital said the initiative was created after observing that many elderly patients delay cataract treatment because of confusion, fear, or anxiety around procedures and healthcare expenses. Drishti aims to simplify the process and encourage senior citizens to seek timely vision care so they can maintain independence, confidence, and active participation in family life.

2. Aashwas – Long-Term Health Assurance for Senior Citizens

The second pillar is Aashwas, a preventive healthcare subscription model designed specifically for senior citizens.

The package includes routine tests, health evaluations, and long-term healthcare assurance for enrolled members. Vencer Hospital said subscribers under Aashwas will continue to receive the same package pricing for the next three years, helping families plan healthcare expenses with greater predictability and confidence.

The subscription also includes free emergency medical intake visits at the hospital. Hospital officials said this is possible because Vencer Hospital maintains round-the-clock doctor availability, allowing senior citizens to receive immediate medical assessment during emergencies without additional intake concerns.

3. Apna Circle – Weekly Support, Counselling and Community for Grandparents

The third component is Apna Circle, a weekly doctor-led support and community initiative open to subscribers.

Senior citizens can attend along with a friend or companion and interact with doctors, counsellors, and specialists from different disciplines every week.

The sessions will focus not only on medical concerns, but also on emotional well-being, loneliness, mobility, nutrition, ageing-related anxiety, and adapting to changing family structures. The hospital also plans to conduct discussions designed to help senior citizens better understand younger generations and modern family dynamics.

Doctors at Vencer Hospital believe emotional isolation is becoming one of the least discussed but most important healthcare challenges facing elderly citizens in urban India today.

Dr. Bhushan Shitole and Dr. Sameer Patil said mobility, continuity of care, and emotional reassurance are deeply interconnected in elderly healthcare. They noted that many senior citizens slowly disconnect from social and family life when mobility declines or when they begin feeling medically unsupported.

According to them, structured preventive engagement, regular doctor interaction, and community support systems can play a major role in helping elderly individuals remain active, confident, and emotionally connected while also reducing avoidable medical complications.

Vencer Hospital said Grandparent Care is intended not just as a medical initiative, but as a long-term community support ecosystem for senior citizens and their families.

Grandparent Care registrations are now open in Pune.

From India to the World: Naman Gosalia and AnginaX Are Taking Cardiovascular Prevention to the Global Stage https://allahabadpost.in/health/from-india-to-the-world-naman-gosalia-and-anginax-are-taking-cardiovascular-prevention-to-the-global-stage/ Sat, 16 May 2026 11:51:14 +0000 https://allahabadpost.in/health/from-india-to-the-world-naman-gosalia-and-anginax-are-taking-cardiovascular-prevention-to-the-global-stage/

From India to the World: Naman Gosalia and AnginaX Are Taking Cardiovascular Prevention to the Global Stage

Geneva [Switzerland], May 16: In a proud moment for India, Naman Gosalia’s consistent advocacy for making cardiovascular prevention the default, not optional, is now bringing India-born AnginaX into global healthcare and public-health conversations alongside presidents of leading cardiology societies, global healthcare leaders, policymakers, institutions, and international public-health stakeholders from across the world.

His growing voice on prevention-first healthcare has led to invitations to discussions at World Heart Federation forums and broader health-policy conversations aligned with the United Nations ecosystem, where the future of cardiovascular prevention is increasingly becoming a global priority.

For decades, healthcare systems around the world have largely focused on treating heart attacks after they happen.

Naman Gosalia believes the future of healthcare will be defined by something far more important: preventing them before they begin. That belief is now taking India-born AnginaX onto the global stage.

At a time when cardiovascular disease claims nearly 18 million lives annually worldwide, according to the World Health Organization, Gosalia has become a leading advocate for moving healthcare earlier, before symptoms, before emergencies, and before patients reach catastrophic stages of disease.

As the Founder of AnginaX, he is leading a prevention-first cardiovascular model that integrates advanced medical science, precise preventive pathways, and intelligent systems into a single, continuous approach to lifelong cardiovascular health.

The objective is ambitious but deeply human: to ensure people do not enter healthcare for the first time only after a crisis begins.

During a recent podcast conversation on GunjanShouts, Gosalia summarized the philosophy behind the movement:

“Our fight is against the disease. We don’t want to save lives only at the ICU; we want to protect lives much earlier, while people are still at home.”

His advocacy is increasingly resonating across clinicians, hospitals, policymakers, and public-health stakeholders exploring how prevention can become a continuous layer integrated into routine healthcare delivery at a real population scale.

Through AnginaX, Gosalia has brought together cardiologists, physicians, scientists, researchers, engineers, and technologists around one mission: shifting healthcare from reactive treatment toward continuous cardiovascular health building.

Rather than positioning prevention as occasional screening, the vision focuses on enabling earlier awareness and action before cardiovascular disease progresses toward angina, heart attack, stroke, or catastrophic events.

Healthcare systems globally continue to face rising chronic disease burden, increasing emergency care costs, and overwhelmed infrastructures. In that environment, prevention is no longer being viewed as a future aspiration.

It is increasingly becoming a necessity.

For many across India, this represents a proud moment, an Indian-born prevention vision beginning to influence how the world approaches cardiovascular health at a population scale.

And while the conversations around AnginaX continue to expand internationally, Gosalia’s central message remains remarkably clear:

“The future of healthcare will not be defined by how well we treat heart attacks; but by how effectively we prevent them.”

Paras Health Launches ‘Umeed Ke Sitare’ to Celebrate Cancer Survivors Ahead of May 16 Showcase https://allahabadpost.in/health/paras-health-launches-umeed-ke-sitare-to-celebrate-cancer-survivors-ahead-of-may-16-showcase/ Thu, 14 May 2026 11:20:22 +0000 https://allahabadpost.in/health/paras-health-launches-umeed-ke-sitare-to-celebrate-cancer-survivors-ahead-of-may-16-showcase/

New Delhi [India], May 14: Paras Health has announced the launch of Umeed Ke Sitare, a dedicated initiative aimed at celebrating cancer survivors and promoting conversations around life beyond cancer, emotional healing, and holistic oncology care.

The initiative will be showcased on May 16 in New Delhi, where cancer survivors, caregivers, and leading oncologists from across the Paras Health network will come together on one platform to honour stories of courage, resilience, and recovery.

In a key highlight of the presentation, oncology specialists from Paras Health hospitals across different states and regions will walk alongside cancer survivors — symbolising the partnership between doctors, patients, and families throughout the cancer journey.

The initiative seeks to reinforce the importance of timely diagnosis, multidisciplinary treatment, emotional well-being, and compassionate care in cancer recovery.

“Umeed Ke Sitare is a tribute to every survivor who chose hope over fear. Through this initiative, we want to celebrate not only survival, but also confidence, healing, and the human spirit.”.

Paras Health

“India is witnessing a significant rise in the cancer burden, and with it comes an urgent responsibility for healthcare institutions to continuously advance the standards of oncology care. The future of cancer treatment lies in precision — precision in diagnosis, precision in clinical decision-making, and precision in delivering personalised treatment pathways that improve both survival and quality of life.

At Paras Health, we have built a strong multidisciplinary oncology ecosystem led by highly experienced oncologists, advanced technologies, and integrated clinical expertise across surgical, medical, and radiation oncology. But beyond clinical excellence, we firmly believe that every cancer journey is deeply human.

Through ‘Umeed Ke Sitare’, we are not only honouring survivors for their courage and resilience, but also reaffirming our commitment to ensuring that every patient feels seen, supported, and cared for at every stage – from diagnosis and treatment to recovery and rehabilitation. For us, healing goes beyond medicine; it is about restoring hope, dignity, confidence, and the ability to look at life again with strength and optimism.”

Paras Health

“As the cancer burden continues to grow across India, healthcare systems must evolve beyond conventional treatment models and build patient-centric ecosystems that combine clinical excellence with compassionate continuity of care. Today, oncology care is not only about treating disease; it is equally about enabling patients and survivors to navigate one of the most challenging phases of their lives with confidence, support, and dignity.

At Paras Health, we remain deeply committed to strengthening our oncology services through advanced infrastructure, leading oncologists, multidisciplinary collaboration, and precision-driven treatment approaches that improve outcomes and patient experience alike. Equally important is our effort to ensure that survivors remain at the heart of every conversation around cancer care.

‘Umeed Ke Sitare’ reflects this philosophy. It is a platform that acknowledges the extraordinary strength of survivors and their families, while creating a culture where stories of resilience, recovery, and hope are celebrated openly. We believe survivors deserve not just successful treatment, but continued emotional support, recognition, rehabilitation, and the reassurance that they are never alone in their journey.”

According to healthcare experts, while awareness around cancer treatment has increased in India, conversations around survivorship and emotional recovery still remain limited. Through Umeed Ke Sitare, Paras Health aims to encourage greater public awareness around early screening, access to advanced oncology care, and support systems for patients and caregivers.

The initiative also reflects Paras Health’s focus on integrated cancer care through advanced diagnostics, medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation therapy, and patient-centric rehabilitation programmes.

Over the past few years, the healthcare network has expanded specialised medical services across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, strengthening access to advanced healthcare beyond metropolitan centres.

Paras Health has recently received recognition for its contribution towards healthcare leadership, clinical excellence, and expanding integrated healthcare infrastructure across multiple regions in India.

Following the May 16 showcase, Umeed Ke Sitare will continue as a larger awareness-led movement through digital storytelling, survivor narratives, and public engagement campaigns focused on hope, healing, and life after cancer.
