Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 21: The Ozone Run 2024, held at Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad on 5th June 2024, brought together over 1,000 families in a powerful demonstration of unity for the cause of cleaner roads and environmental sustainability. Organised by the SWAN (Save Water and Nature) team in collaboration with the Ozone Run Founders, the event showcased the city’s collective commitment to improving public hygiene and promoting eco-friendly practices. Led by SWAN Chairperson Mrs Meghana Musunuri, Secretary Mr Sridhar Vunnam, and Founders Ms Bilvoa Vunnam and Ms Teerdha Vunnam, the run received overwhelming support from local families, sponsors, and schools, further underscoring the importance of community-driven-initiatives in driving meaningful change.
Distinguished guests such as Shri Jagadeeswar Goud, MLA Contestant from Serilingampally, and Mr Gareth Wynn Owen, British Deputy High Commissioner, graced the occasion and expressed their strong support for the environmental cause. Both leaders emphasised the vital role of public engagement in achieving sustainable change and lauded the efforts of the community to come together for this initiative. Their participation highlighted the critical need for collaboration between citizens and public officials in addressing environmental challenges.
Several prestigious schools, including Fountainhead Global School, Sreenidhi International School, DPS Miyapur, DPS Hyderabad, Oasis School, Narayana Group of Schools, Jain Group of Schools, Chirec School, Abhaya School, Sentia Global School, and Strokes The Swim School, played a crucial role in the event. Students, parents, and educators from these institutions participated in the 10K, 5K, and 2K runs, showcasing their dedication to a cleaner Hyderabad. Winners of the 10K run were awarded prizes, while Climate Action Awards were presented to individuals and schools demonstrating leadership in environmental sustainability and awareness.
The event’s success was also made possible by the generous contributions of sponsors such as Am Green—Greenko Group, Oasis School, 7 Seas Entertainment, Dhanu Construction, and Sumo Biscuits. Their support ensured the smooth execution of the Ozone Run 2024, helping it become a milestone event in Hyderabad’s journey toward environmental health.
The day we concluded with the presentation of a petition to public representatives, calling for immediate action on improving road hygiene throughout the city. This petition, backed by participants from schools, families, and community leaders, reinforces the collective call for sustainable solutions.
