From a 360-degree immersive underwater kingdom to interactive VR and AR experiences, the attraction brings India’s ancient legends to life through technology and storytelling.

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], October 31: The legendary city of Dwarka comes to life at Palladium Ahmedabad with The Lost City of Dwarka, an immersive experience opening to visitors today for the first time in Gujarat. Bringing together mythology, historical references and interactive technology, the experience invites visitors to explore the world associated with Lord Krishna through 360-degree projection mapping, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and specially designed installations.

The journey begins with Myths vs Reality, an introduction to Dwarka through references from ancient texts, including the Harivamsa and the Vishnu Purana, alongside perspectives inspired by modern archaeological explorations. Exploring questions surrounding the city’s origins, its possible links to ancient maritime trade and its association with the sea, the installation sets the context for the immersive experiences that follow.

At the heart of the attraction is a 360-degree projection mapping experience that surrounds visitors with moving visuals, sound and light, transporting them into an imagined underwater kingdom. From ocean landscapes and vibrant marine life to the gates of Dwarka, the mythical presence of Shesh Naag and the grandeur of the legendary city, the journey unfolds through sweeping visuals of palaces, architecture and mythical landscapes.

The experience takes an environmental turn at Vhali Dwarka, an ultraviolet-lit installation inspired by the whale shark, locally referred to as Vhali, or “dear one”. Glowing marine forms create a striking underwater setting, while several elements made from discarded materials, including plastic cups, shopping bags, food wrappers and bottle caps, highlight the importance of marine conservation and protecting aquatic ecosystems.

Visitors can step further into the narrative through Divine Revelation, an interactive VR journey inspired by Krishna’s Dwarka. Wearing VR headsets, they travel through the Parijat gardens and a grand golden throne room before entering the Sanctum of the Avatars, featuring monumental figures and celestial imagery. The experience continues towards a panoramic view of ancient Dwarka, where interactive elements allow visitors to activate sacred symbols, open gateways and restore pathways as the story moves towards a collective finale.

The journey concludes with Meet Krishna in Dwarka, an augmented reality experience that places visitors within digitally recreated landscapes inspired by the ancient city. Visitors can pose alongside mythical guardians and explore visual elements associated with Syamantak Mani, capturing personalised photographs and videos along the way. Treasures of Dwarka further extends the experience with souvenirs and photo prints.

Bringing the project to life are Mr. Arpit Jain, Founder of Teerth Media, and Mr. Himanshu Ghosh, Founder of Knownsense Studios. Guided by the vision of “Taking India’s Stories to the World”, the collaboration explores how immersive technology can introduce India’s cultural narratives to contemporary audiences through participation, discovery and personal engagement.

Speaking about the project, Mr. Arpit Jain, Founder of Teerth Media, said, “India has stories that deserve to travel far beyond our borders. With The Lost City of Dwarka, we want people to encounter those stories in a way that feels immediate and personal, and to carry that connection with them.”

Mr. Himanshu Ghosh, Founder of Knownsense Studios, said, “Immersive technology gives us a different way to tell stories. Our aim is to make visitors feel involved in the world we are presenting, while leaving room for curiosity, discovery and their own interpretation.”

By bringing mythology, historical references, environmental storytelling and interactive technology together, The Lost City of Dwarka offers visitors a contemporary way to engage with a cultural narrative that has endured across generations. The experience caters to a wide audience, from families and younger visitors to those interested in history, mythology and emerging technologies.
